Wonky is a tech-integrated marketplace connecting young consumers in New York with affordable, imperfect produce from local farms. It combines a mobile app and physical store to improve transparency and engagement through features like produce tracking, impact visualization, and interactive in-store experiences.
Problem Statement- Right now, upstate farms are throwing away 20%-30% of their crops just because they look “weird.”
- Meanwhile, students and young professionals are skipping fresh meals because they can’t afford the “perfect” ones at grocery stores like Whole Foods.
- There's no direct connection between upstate farms and NYC's young population.`
Concept Overview
We are designing a tech-integrated marketplace, (an App and a Physical Store) for environmentally conscious young consumers (ages 20–35) in New York seeking lower-priced fresh imperfect produce from upstate local farms.
